ARCTIC SUBMARINE
WILKINS EXPEDITION
RECRUIT FOR NAUTILUS
NEW YORK, 27th March. It is reported that William B. Leeds, j a wealthy young sportsman and yachtsman, haa been enrolled as mooring master of the Nautilus for the coming expedition. However, he must have a medical examination to determine his physical fitness. For a long time he has suffered from chronic bronchitis, therefore it is feared he might be unable to withstand the conditions during the submarine voyage. However, he will join the vossel on the approaching trials; then, if it is decided that he is able to proceed to tho Arctic, he plans to join Sir Hubert Wilkins at Spitzborgon in July. Leeds met Sir Hubert Wilkins during the Graf Zeppelin's round-the-woild trip, and the Australian has stated that Leeds lias proved his ability, as a ship and navigating officer. He makes a good occupant for a most important post. Ho has a sincere desire to aid the scientific aims of tho expedition.
