EXECUTIVE MEETING
Mr. L. O. 11. ' Tripp presided over tho executive committee meeting of the Wellington War Relief Association hold yestorday. Then) were also present: Sir John Luke, Messrs. C. M. Luke, Clement Watson, ■G. Mitchell, and A. O. Loach (secretary). • The reports of the Applications, Emergency, and Finance Committees wero adopted. . The Applications Committee met .on throe occasions since tho Executive Committee last mot, and during that period 272 applications were received, comprising 31 claims from men who had .not previously approached tho committee, and 241 applications from others who had done so., Tho Emergency Committee met on 25 occasions and dealt with 79 of the applications received, 193 claims being disposed of by' tho Applications Committee, whilst there arc 93 other applications still under action. Tho total number of applications received, including those submitted to. the Finance Committee,.thus amounted to 281. ■....." '.'•;. The number of i persons who called at the office during tho period under review was 389. Of these, 305 applied for direct and 84 for indirqet assistance. The Finance Committee held one ordinary and three emergency meetings since the Exeeutivo Committee last met, and in' addition to its ordinary function of controlling the financial ailairs of the association, dealt with nine applications for assistance by way of loans. Seven of these were old applications requiring revision of tho original conditions of ropayment, whilst the remaining two, both new applications, wcrp approved.
