CRICKETERS FAREWELLED
The Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met yesterday afternoon to farewell Messrs.' C. S. Dempster and K. C. James, the two local players ■who are leaving with the New Zealand team for England to-morrow. In addition to the members of the committee there vrcro also present Messrs. AY. S. Brice. "chairman o£ the New Zealand Selection Committee; A. T. Donnelly, chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council; A. E. Burns, secretary of New Zealand Cricket, Ltd.; T. C. Lowry, C. F. W. AUo.ott, and M. L. Page, members of the touring team, and a number of enthusiastic supporters of the game. In presenting Messrs. Dempster and James with a wallet each, Mr. P. B. Broad, chairman of the Management Committee, congratulated. the pair on getting into the team, and said that the faa that their selection had escaped criticism spoke for itself. In the course of further remarks he said that those concerned with managing the game greatly appreciated all that was done by the players. James and Dempster had given of their best in the field of play, and all wished them ami the nthe'r members oi' ihe team a cood trip Home, a successful Ion;----(which he was sure they would have), in A a good return trip to New Zealand. Tho recipients suitably replied.
