GAS CYLINDER EXPLODES

POLICE SERGEANT KILLED

SYDNEY, 25th March,

A polite sergeant was killed, five were hurt, and hundreds of others scattered hi terror when, during a fire at the Momalong Hotel, Barrigan, a gas cylinder exploded. The entire population of 2000 turned out when the five alarm rang. There were many willing helpers, but the hotel was burned to the ground.

Scores had narrow escapes. The sergeant's dog was killed beside him.
