STRONG PROTEST
WAR PENSIONS BOARD | PROPOSED ABOLITION (By Telegraph.). (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. A decision to make a strong protest to the Government against the proposed abolition of the War Pensions Appeal Board as now constituted was made at a meeting of the executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association last evening. ■ ■ ■ The form of the letter of protest was left in the hands of a sub-committee consisting of the chairman (Sir George Eichardson), Mr. T. H. Dawson, and Mr. A. C. A. Sexton. Copies will be sent to all members of Parliament, the headquarters of the New Zealand Association and branches. Mr. Sexton gave a history of the board since its inception, and expressed the opinion that its abolition would bo disastrous. , . "The proposal is a distinct broach or faith with the returned soldiers, and if introduced would be a. very retrograde movement," said Mr. Dawson. ! Sir George Bichardson stated that to prevent irregularities in decisions the board should be under control of one man, who could give his whole time to the work and not mako it a spare-time job. ■
