ARCTIC SUBMARINE

CHRISTENED NAUTILUS

WATER NOT CHAMPAGNE

United Tress Association—By Electric Tel»»

graph—Copyright.

(Received 2oth March, 2 p.m.)

NEW YORK, 2-Uh March,

Sir Hubert Wilkins chose water instead of champagne at the christening of the submarine Nautilus on Tuesday. "I don't believe it would be becoming or proper for me," he said, "as a British subject to begin so important an enterprise by violating the laws of tha United States. I am not a Prohibition.ist, and the Nautilus, when in the Arctic, will have a store of liquors for medicinal purposes. We were offered champagne for the christening, but out of respect for American law it is not being used."
