ENCOURAGING SPORT

PLAY ON THE SABBATH

NAPIER, This Day

The Napier Commissioners have intimated that the parks and reserves will be kept up to normal as far as possible, but some employees would have to go off.

It is desired to encourage sport, and grounds are being prepared for winter games, but the Commissioners stated that they were not out to dragoon the conscience of even the minority if people thought it advisable to stop organised games or tho Sabbath on public areas. Work is proceeding on the Napier South sewerage system. Ml. G. A. Hart, City Engineer, Wellington, is to report on this problem, which is one of magnitude, tho changed levels making the task difficult.
