CASE OF FATHER TURNEY

(British Official Wireless.)

RUGBY, 23rd March,

Referring in the House of Commons to the ease of Father Turney, of Saint Colomba's mission in the Chinese Province of Kiangsi, who was held for ransom by bandits, Dr. Hugh Dalton, Under-Socretary for Foreign Affairs, stated that it was feared that he was dead, though the rumour was not confirmed, and the Chinese Government had ordered the local Magistrate to pay the full ransom. The British Minister was continuing to do everything in his power to effect the release of Father Turney, if he were still alive.
