SUBURBAN HORTICULTURE

There was a good attendance of meaii bers at the monthly meeting of th^ Wellington South Horticultural Society!. The president (Mr. T. P. Mills) was in the chair.

The principal business was the pre-» liminary arrangements for the autumn' show, which is to be held ia th«r Masonic Hall, Island Bay, on Tuesday, 28th April. This will be the first show; held at Island Bay by. this society* which is the combination of the long* established society of St. Thomas's, Newtown, and that of Island Bay. Tha! j judges for the several sections were] appointed, and other preliminary asi [rangements were made and everything promises well for a good show. _?or the monthly competition a large' number of blooms -were staged. The first place was awarded to Mrs. Grif»i fen for carnations, the second to Mrs, M'Lean for a fine valotta, and the third to Mrs. Vicars for dahlias.
