CONTRACTOR'S FAILURE
A nieeUns of creditors in the'bankrupt estate of Cyril Williams Burns, contractor, was held, at the olti.ee of the Official Assignee (Mr. S. Tanslcy) yesterday afternoon. The statement of accounts showed: — Amount owing to unsecured creditors, £278 3s 3d; estimated surplus of securities held by secured creditors, £50; deficiency, £22S 3s 3d. In his sworn statement the bankrupt said his usual work was road formation and drain-laying. He lost £60 in connection with a confectionery business at Mocral. A venture in conducting a billiard saloon, and also a wood-cutting undertaking, were unsuccessful. He had a wife and two children; was now out of employment, and could not at-present make auy offer to his creditors. When he was in a position to do so, he would pay off his debts. The Oilicial Assignee said that in bis judgment there was nothing in the estate for the unsecured creditors. A resolution was adopted " that the bankrupt's discharge be opposed until he paid 10s in the £.
