ALLEGED BURGLARS
A SERIOUS CASE

CHBISTCHUECH, This Day.
Robert AVillianiLeemirig,-a labourer, aged 29, Ivan Ashley Smith, a painter, 26, and Harold.Herbert Smith, of Kaikonra; a meclianiic, were charged to-day. with, on or about :10th March, breaking and entering by night the dwelling of Henry, Harris, of.-Kilmore streot, and committing thef I;. Tho police stated, that an. old man named Harris lir.ft been, struck1 down and seriously injured by the accused when they entered his shop. A revolver,1 two batons, rubber- gloves, and two electric torches were.produced as, exhibits. - : . Harris gave evidence that ,he had been grabbed by the ■ throat, gagged with a towel, and struck on the head. ' Leeming. and Ivan Smith, who were Jointly charged, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and were committed for sentence. :..
