SIR JOHN SIMON'S VIEW
NO EASY TASK
(British Official Wireless.) (Received 23rd March, 11 a.m.) ETJGBY, 21st March. Sir John Simon, speaking on India, iasfc night said that the two vitally important things to be aimed at were atmosphere and construction. Speaking of the Viceroy, Lord Irwin, he said that Ms name would go down to history Ji« one who had thrown the whole fore* of Ms personality and sincerity into this essential task. He pointed but the danger of misunderstanding until the task of construction was really taken in hand, and said that just as it tvas impossible to deny progress towards tne goal of responsibility, so it ffnust be appreciated that what wore spoken of a3 safeguards were not matters of easily adjusted detail, but were fundamental to the central structure.
