ANZAC DAY
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —May I make a suggestion to returned soldiers, and particularly those in charge of arrangements on the above day? Would it not Joe an excellent idea, particularly so since the disbandment of the military forces, for returned men to muster in full strength on Anzac Day, and let those in authority arrange for banners denoting the various units of the N.Z.E.F. such as Auckland Regiment, Nelson Regiment, Canterbury Regiment, Otago Kegiment, etc., to name a few. . : Out of courtesy let there also be one for the Australians and another for the British Forces. These could be cheaply made of cardboard on a thin pole about 6 feet long, and set out •with markers at the assembly place for the march. . Also let tfiere.be Australian, British, and. NewZealand flags, together with the regimental colours of the Wellington- Kegiment. The banners would enable old comrades to fraternise more easily, and renew a certain amount of "esprit de corps." As is done in both Sydney and Melbourne on Anzac Day, where New Zealanders and 8.8.Fi men are given pride of place at the head of the column,. so let us recipfoeate by giving the Aussies and B.E.F. men pride of place here. Now, diggers, can we not make this coming Anzac Day just as memorable, as those in the past, without a big military display.—l am, etc., JUST A DIGGER.
