Sir—The following examination paper vhich I came across a few days ago may iuterest some of your readers:— ■ Examination for Master's Degree. Paper A—General bluff. Time allowed—one hour. (Any three questions, correctly' answered, will secure full marks.) (3) If one foundation stone denotes one building, how many buildings are evidenced by two foundation stones m one build- » 72) I have 70 apples and 80 friends. How am I to give an apple to each? Explain what Labour would do if apples were (3) If it be compulsory to choose between vote-catching and self-respect, how could you secure £450 per annum? (1) Explain in Parliamentary, terms what happens (a) when Eeform and United
combine against Labour, (b) When Labour and United combine against Reform? (c) When all three are in perfect disagree-1 ment? Prove by algebra that the result J is invariably £450 per annum. (5) Explain and compare "under consumption" and "over production," what would happen (1) i£ we wero to raise wages so as to create over-consumption, or (2) decrease production to the measure of our consumption 'i (Labour's method may be cited). (6) A's salary is £150; he spends £150. B's salary is £3500; he spends £500. Both are "cut" by 10 per cent. On this basis define "equality of ■ sacrifice" and "adequate national objective." (7) If a equals a candidate or member, b promises; c, honorarium; and x, Parlia-. ment, prove that (a plus b-c)-x and (a squared minus b plus c) plus x, are equal. (8) Define in Parliamentary language: Repudiation of contract, political kookaburra, ditto. (9) Write a short essay :on one of the following: (a) How'to hoodwink the electors?, (b)How to bo an economist whilst a spendthrift?
