WELLINGTON CARNIVAL

■ Although ,the weather was far from satisfactory for swimming, there was a good attendance at the Te Aro Baths on Saturday afternoon to witness l the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club's annual carnival. The most interesting of the iixteen events was the Wellington Centre 220y'ds Men's Handicap. In this race Claridge, the Maranui swimmer, lowered his own record for the Wellington Centre by 'two seconds. Blakeley, the only other starter, finished a length behind.
