STAR CREW WIN OPEN RACE
Two events—open and welterweight— were decided at the annual inter-club eights regatta, held on the Koro Koro course on Saturday afternoon. There were four crews in the open race, which, necessitated two heats. Star No. 1 beat Wellington by a length in the first heat and in the second heat Petone beat Star No. 2by a length and a half. The final was won by Star No. 1, who, after a gruelling and exciting race, finished three-quarters of a length ahead of the Petone crew. The race was rowed over a course of one and a half miles. Stars winning crew was: G. C. Cooke (str.), F. H. Muffins (7), F. M. Bell (6), P. H. Field (5), S. L. Tansley (4), D. G. Gane (3), D. Gray (2), and I. Cromie (bow). Petone and Star were the only competitors in the welter-weight race. Petone, with the following crew, won by a length: G. Kodda (str.), W. Childs (7), A. Ainslie (6), G. Palamoiratain (5), M. M'Gavm (4), G. London (3), T. Crooks (2), K. Pritchard(bow).
