SHOPS ENTERED
MAN PLEADS GUILTY.
ALLEGED PRISON ESCAPEE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, 21st March. On Tuesday-night last three shops in Gisborne were broken into and. goods and money stolen. Attempts were also made1 to '.enter three other shops. Yesterday morning the Post .Office at Te Araroa and the offices of- the Matakaoa County Council were broken into. . Later in the day a man named John Schofield, alias Jones,, was arrested at Te Araroa and, charged with t^e two offences.' He pleaded .guilty, and Was committed to the Supreme- Court for sentence. The accused was brought to Gisborne to-day. He has been charged with breaking, entering, and theft at Ivan Bramwell's, and at the premises of Adams, Bruce, Ltd., and J: Harries, also with attempting to break and enter three other places: The accused will also.bo charged with escaping from Wi Tako Prison, Wellington.
