FIRE AT WAIPUKURAU

EIGHT LOOSEBOXES

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIPUKTJKAU, 20th March. A fee resulting in loss to the Waipukurau Racing Club occurred at the racecourse yesterday morning. Eight looseboxes and a quantity of baled straw were destroyed. The fire was noticed by the caretaker, Mr. A. T. Holmes, who gave the alarm, though the stables are a mile from the town and outside the lfire Board's area. Tho brigade ran out 1100 feet of hose, and saved the 18 remaining loose-boxes. As the club is holding a race meeting on Easter Monday the fire will cause some inconvenience. The cause of the outbreak is unknown.
