AFRICAN AIRMAIL
TANGANYIKA TO LONDON (British Official Wireless.) (Eeceived 20th March, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 19th March. The first air mail liner from Central Africa to Great Britain arrived at Croydon this afternoon at scheduled time, having covered 5114 miles in 9 days, saving 23 days as compared with surface transport. The first stages of the flight, from Mwauza, Tanganyika, to Khartum, was covered by the Imperial Airways flying boat City of Khartum. At Khartum the mail was transferred to a land 'plane, and flown to Cairo, where it was joined by the Lon-don-bound Indian air mail. A second flying boat was used on the stage from Cairo to Athens across the Mediterranean, and the .journey home was com- j pleted by ordinary air liner. About 54,000 letters were delivered from the liner. ■ '
