BENEFIT TROTTING MEETING
The nominations received for the special meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club, to be held at the Hutl; Park, Wellington, on Saturday, 7th Siarch, ar& very satisfactory, although the two events for imhoppled trotters have not filled very well. Even in these events, however, quality 'makes up for loss in quantity, and with Surprise Journey and Paddy M'Kinney to fight their battles over again lovers of the square-gaited horse will have a treat in store. It has been decided that, ac the special
Nelson fixture is in the nature of a benefit meeting, no complimentary tickets will be issued. There can be no doubt that': supporters of the trotting sport will be! only too gltid to participate in assisting to; put the Nelson Trotting Club on its feet I again. The recent meeting of the Wellington.' Trotting Club resulted in a somewhat heavy financial loss, but the officials of the club attribute this mainly to the bad: weather experienced. As there is another local fixture on 28th March they are confident that with better luck in the wea-. ther they'will make ends meet when th« season closes. •
