RAILWAYMEN PROTEST

The proposed reduction of Civil servants' wages was discussed at a mass meeting in the Hutt Eailway Workshops yesterday. The following resolution was carried." "This mass meeting of tho Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants and the Tradesmen's Association, at the Hutt Eailway Workshops registers its strong protest against the Government's attempt to reduce wages. We believe that no good can bo done by interference with the wages of men receiving below £300 per year, and the inevitable result of reduced wages will be the wholesale abandonment of many homes upon which loans are being paid off to the State and private interests."
