A GENEROUS OFFER

The Prime Minister (tho Eight Hon. G. W. Forbes) announced to-day that he had received a communication from His Excellency tho Governor-General requesting that his official salary and allowance as Governor-General should be subject to tho reduction of 10 per cent, proposed in the case of salaries of officers in the Public Service throughout the Dominion.

Mr. Forbes has written to His Excellency expressing the appreciation of tho Government at Lord Bledisloe's public-spirited action, and intimating that his very kind offer is gratefully accepted. His Excellency receives a salary of £5000 and an allowance of £2500.
