A combined meeting of all societies and of residents of Wadestown and Highland Park is convened for tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall, Pitt street, to initiate an 'organised district effort for raising funds and rendering other assistance in. aid of people of the earthquake area. The meeting is convened, jointly by the Wadestown Progressive and Ratepayers' Association and the Wadestown and Highland Park Men's Society. Mr. R. M. Stewart, manager of the Seaside Pictures, Lyall Bay, has handed £20 to the treasurer of the district's effort for the Mayor's Earthquake Belief Fund, being the proceeds of a special picture entertainment at the week-end. No deduction has been made for expenses, and the theatres staff gave their services voluntarily. Mr. L. Spiro, formerly of Napier but now resident in Wellington, is anxious to organise a concert in aid of relief funds,' the artists to be ex-Napier residents. Those; desirous of assisting should communicate with him, care of the Bristol Piano Company. The Entertainments Committee of the Mayor's Relief Committee is actively, engaged in organising entertainments to assist the rolief funds. To avoid clashing with any other entertainments, they ask that anyone organising entertainments for relief purposes should communicate with the Entertainments Committee, Town Hall. A public meeting was held at Tawa Flat last week, and steps were taken to organise a canvass of the district in aid of the Red Cross Fund.
