FOURTH CRICKET TEST
ENGLAND'S INNINGS ENDS
AFRICANS OPEN WELL
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. CAPE TOWN, 14th February. Tho fourth Test match, England v. South Africa, was continued at Johannesburg this morning. The English innings ended in a blaze of glory when Voco, the last man in, gave a brilliant oxhibition of batting. He scored three ■3's off Nupen and one off Hall by magnificent driving. He batted twenty-seven minutes, and, with Farrimond, added 52' for the last wicket. Farrimond was stubbornness personified, but his resistance to the steady bowling was invaluable to his side. Ho also batted twenty-seven minutes and hit throe boundaries. SOUTH AFRICA OPENS. A record crowd of 25,000 saw the opening of the African innings. Curnow was confident before Tate's attack, but unfortunately for South Africa he went out leg before. Siedle and Mitchell, however, fought desperately against the excellent bowling, kept fresh by many changes. Peebles was troublesome, but the batsmen hung on until at 112 Siedle went out, he and Mitchell having put on 96 for the second wicket. Details:— ENGLAND. First Innings.
