FIRE CREATES ALARM
YOUTH INJURES HIMSELF
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) • AUCKLAND, 11th February. The freezing chamber on the first floor of the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company's six-storied bnikling on the waterfront was the scene of a fire this morning. The floor" covering caught alight in an unknown manner, but was extinguished easily. Frederick Blucher (19), with a number of other employees, deterred by the dense smoke from descending, attempted to jump on to adjacent roofs. Blucher crashed, through to the floor below and injured one of his legs. Another employee, F. Taylor, was locked iv the burning freezing chamber, the others thinking everyone was out and hoping to prevent the spread of the.fire. He was released just in time. It is stated that the butter and cheese in the store are undamaged.
