LIB-LAB JUNTA
ANOTHER CONFERENCE
LONGER LEASE MF OFFICE
ASSUMED AGREEMENT
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, 11th February. Another Liberal-Labour conference at Downing Street is believed to have resulted in an agreement on the unemployment policy and other matters designed to keep the Government in office. Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, accompanied by a number of members of Cabinet, received Mr. Llyod George accompanied by Sir Herbert Samuel and others. It is understood that the Liberals yielded to Mr. (Philip Snowden'sv arguments against the great development loan advocated recently by their party. The debate in the House of Conir mons to-day arising out of the Conservative motion of censure' on the Government for failing to effect national economies, promises to be of unusual interest. ' The problem of the rising cost of social services, and the need for cutting down public expenditure are rapidly becoming live issues in Britain. "The Times" says: "Whatever may be the result of the current financial year, it is already certain that the legislation and administration of the Labour Government will have added over £30,000,000 to the charges to be' met from taxation, and £35,000,000 to the charges improperly met from borrowing. ' 'While future commitments will bo | much heavier, national resources are j mortgaged to tho hilt. To-day's debate raises the question of whether any, political 'party is really determined to cut down, not only waste, but statutory commitments." ' i In the House the' Agricultural Bill was read for the third time, passing by 282 votes to 226. ■
