THE PRINCES IN'PERU
WARM WELCOME AT LIMA
(Received 12th February, noon.) LIMA (Peru), 11th February. The Oropesa, with the British Princes on board, arrived on Wednesday morning at Callao, escorted by two Peruvian warships. The Prince of Wales and Prince George received an enthusiastic welcome at the chief port of Peru, and proceeded from Callao to Lima, where they were welcomed by the Mayor, who presented them, with the freedom of tho city, and commemorative medals and parchments. The Prince of Wales responded in Spanish. , The army band played "God Save the King," and thousands cheered as the brothers marched up the steps of the City Hall between j ranks of picked troops. "I am not accustomed to making speeches, in Spanish, but I want to tell you that my brother and I ate very grateful for your welcome. We are honoured by the medals you have given us. When emotion is strong, you know that speech must bo short," the Prince said. .
