• Since last night A depression ./has moved from the Tasman Sea on to southern" New Zealand. As- a consequence dull and misty -weather has gradually spread over the Dominion.Eain fell yesterday in Otagoand Southland but elsewhere the weather generally! was fine, warm, and sultry. By this morning, however, the rain had extended to Westland and Canterbury, and a few isolated places in the northern part of the North. Island also reported rain. .Winds yesterday were variable, with northerlies predominating, and northerlies are now becoming general and are commencing tofreshen in the Cook Strait area. Auckland had a fine but dull day yesterday, with a light southerly wind. In "Wellington it was warm and sultry and cloudy, the wind being a light northerly. Christchurch had a dull day with a frosh north-easterly wind. Eain began to fall there at daybreak to-day. In Dunedin yesterday the weather was unsettled with intermittent light rain and very little wind. Moderate northerly winds are "expected to freshen somewhat in and "north ,of Cook Strait, but there should be a change to southerlies, advancing from tlie south over tho Dominion, in from 12 to 24 hours. Dull and misty weather with fairly general rain is.likely, and in places falls will be heavy. Mild temperatures will give place to cooler conditions late* i
