WORSER BAY BEACH

SAND DRIFT NUISANCE

The chairman of the Seatoun and Bays' Progressive Association, Mr. W. B. Palmer, speaking to a "Post" reporter.in regard to the complaints made about the unsatisfactory state of things at Worser Bay, said that tho City Council has been kept fully informed by the association, as well as affiliated associations and by deputation, correspondence, and the Press, of the state of affairs at Worser Bay. Why no effort had been made to improve matters was, to say the least, extraordinary. The council had found big amounts of money for other beaches, so why not Worser Bay? "Tho only so-called improvement so far, "said Mr. Palmer, "is the erection for some unknown reason of a clumsylooking jarrah fence on that picturesque spot at the foot of Awa road. This knoll has been for years the favourite spot of many picnic parties, and it would be little less than a crime _to demolish any portion of this hill. Also, it is considered by old residents that this spot, with its trees, helps somewhat to break tho fierce northwesters which sweep along this part and carry the sand towards Seatoun. There are, however, so many other matters of pressing need to be attended to, with Scorching Bay now appearing in the picture, that the local residents are calling an urgent public meeting this week to place the matter again before councillors." Mr. Palmer added that for some years residents have taken an interest in various shrubs along this waterfront. These trees, when in flower, are openly stripped in daylight by certain visitors to the bay who, when spoken to, are insolent.
