GOODWILL TOURS
IN SOUTH AMERICA
HOOVER AND PRINCE COMPARED
NEW YOBK, 24th January
Tlu> ";few York Tim<?-i" financial editor states: "American bankers and business leaders having interests in South America will follow closely the
progress of the tour of tho Prince of Wales to ascertain what effect it may have on American trade with Latin America. "It is considered inevitable that a comparison will be made with the goodwill tour of President Hoover in the autumn of 1928. "In some quarters here it is believed fhafc greater benc-fits may result foi British manufactures, commerce, and finance from the Prince of AVales's tour than was derived by American business from Mr. Hoover's visit, inasmuch ar; greater preparations have been made by the Brtiish." The writer then quotes the views of a group of noted business men who point to the success" of British diplomacy in recent South American revolutions, and to the fact that economic oxpe-rts accompany the Prince, whose visit will appeal to the peoples generally as well as to the gove-rning heads of the nations concerned.
