KILBIRNIE V. UNIVERSITY.

Small, scoring marked the match played at the Kilbirnie Reserve between Kilbirnie and '^University. Kilbirnie had first use of the wicket, but they made a bad opening, four good wickets falling before many runs were on the board. It was left to Ward and Turnbull, a youngster making, his first appearance in senior cricket, to retrieve the position. Turnbull batted with confidence, and gave promise of becoming a useful member the eleven. He was bowled by Aim when he had reached 21. Ward went on to score 51, his innings being an invaluable one to his side. Virtue assisted things along with 23, and Tucker and Monkhouse also made useful contributions, Harrison bowled well for University, taking five wickets at a cost of 61 runs. If Kilbirnie s opening had been bad, University's was infinitely worse, and when stumps were drawn five wickets were down for the small tally of 44 runs. Pacey, 14 not out, was the only batsman to make any showing, although his rate of scoring was paintully slow. Details: — KILBIRNIE. First Innings.
