Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., liave received a cable from their London agents, dated 19th December, quoting: Best North. Island crossbred lambs, 28/30, B%d per 3b, 36/42, S%d; 2nd quality lambs, average 30/31, none offering; best North Island wethers, under 4S 5%d per Ib, 48/56 4 7-Bd, 56/64 494d, 04/73 4%d; North Island ewes, under 4S 3 7-Bd, 48/56 3%d, 56/ 6t 3'/4d, 64/72 3 l-8d; New Zealand prime ox beef 160/220 4%d. As compared with last week's quotations, best North Island wethers 48/721b l-8d per lb lower, North Island ewes, 56/64, I-Sd per lb higher.. Others unchanged. The market is quiet. The Bank of New Zealand Produce Department has received the following advice from its London office as at close of buisness this week. Trade in wether mutton is slow. The market for ewes is steady, and no material change is expected yet. The market is short of supplies of lamb and prices are nominal. The market for beef is easier. Trade will be affected by holidays. Prices are quoted approximately as above.
