Mr. Justice Eeed leaves"- to-day for Auckland. Mr. J. O'Shca, City Solicitor, has returned to Wellington from Dunedin. Mr. and Mrs. J. Fletcher (Auckland), Messrs. J. R. M'Kenzie (Christchurch), J. W. Hayes, and H. E. Haines (Auckland) are staying at the Hotel. St. George. Mr. T. C. List, a New Zealand delegate to the Empire Press Conference, which took place in London some months ago, is to leave England on the Rangitata, states a Press ■ Association cablegram from London. A Press Association cablegram from London states that Mr. John W. Dulanty has been appointed Free Stats High Commissioner in London. Sir James Mills, K.C.M.G., chairman, of directors of the Union'Steam Shij> Company, sailed by the Euahine" from. London yesterday for a short holiday in New Zealand. The Ruahiue is dua at Wellington about 26th January. Guests at the Eoyal Oak H,otel include Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Pike,- Mr. and Mrs. W. Garrott (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Gilmer (London), Dr. 11. E. A. Washbourne (Nelson), Messrs. G. E. Cloke (London), and J. S. Langford (Hokitika). Among tho visitors to Wellington staying at the Grand Hotel are:—Mr. and Mrs. W. O'Malley (Auckland), Messrs. P. E. Hetherington (Melbourne), G. Bertraud (New Plymouth), S. E. Noilr/i (Napier), and J. Dalton (Auckland). ' ■ -' Mr. Q. J. Sce'ats, of" the Mount Albert Grammar Se.ool teaching staff, is on a visit to Wellington. Mr. Sceats was formerly well known in athletic circles in Wellington, and this season he1 is chairman of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Centre. At the breaking-up ceremony of the Masterton West School on Thursday, a farewell presentation was-made to "Mr. 3T. M. Pinfold, who has been transferred on promotion to Wellington. Ia asking Mr. Pinfold to accept a leather suitcase and collar-box as a parting gift from the committee and staff, Mr. J. J. M'Leary said they all greatly regretted losing Mr. Pinfold. The ■ departing teacher had.been a great asset to tho school, and his good influence would be felt for years to come. He had played a splendid part both in teaching and in fostering sport, and had done invaluable work in tho musical training of the children.
