ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

At 2.30 this morning Constable Tanner, of Lower Hutt, while patrolling the Alicetown district, noticed a man behaving suspiciously in the doorway of the Self-Help grocery store, and proceeded to investigate. Tho man ran away, but was soon overtaken and arrested. An unsuccessful attempt had been made on the rear door, while at the front door tho padlock had been wrenched off and other locks removed, leaving only a Ynle lock to bo forced. At the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court this morning, W. T. Moat, :i dealer in business in High street, Lower Hutt, was charged before Mr. W. N. Dempsey, J.P., with attempted breaking and entering. He was remanded till 27th December.
