Kahikatoa's Lameness. Kahikatoa was slightly lame after the Woodville Meeting, but worked freely on the plough:at Hastings on Tuesday morning, so evidently he has quite recovered. A Good Gallop. On 'Tuesday at Hastings, White Fang and Admiral Drake, both carrying good weights, finished together at the end o£ a round in lmin 41 4-ssec, the best gallop of the morning. Both these horses should perform well over Christmas. Admiral Drake will probably race at Waipukurau and Tauherenikau. In the Shade's Gallop. In the Shade was about four lengths behind Ti Tree over the first six furlongs of a mile at Takanini on Tuesday, but when they straightened up for home In the Shade quickly ran up to his companion and they finished together in lmin 44 3-osee. The first three furlongs took 39 l-ssec, and the five furlongs lmin 4 3-Ssec. . ; Horses for Taranaki. The Ellerslie trainer, W. Kaokaoroa, the half-brother to Maunga, figures in the nomination lists of both Manawatu and Ellerslie, but J. Griffiths has been experiencing same difficulty in keeping him sound at Hastings on account of splint trouble, and he has decided to turn him out for a while for treatment. Sea Cob Destroyed. The hurdler Sea Cob has had to be destroyed. During the running of the Eaurimu Handicap at the Taumarunui races on Saturday, Oth December, Sea Cob, who was owned by Mr. W. Montgomery, of Auckland, met with an accident, and a fetlock joint filled very badly. Every attention was given the injury, but on Monday it was considered that there was no chance of the horse's making a recovery, and he was destroyed. Sea Cob won the Mammui Hack Hurdles on the first day of tlie meeting. He was trained by A. Cook, Te Awumutii. Shrewd for Awapuni: The Hastings trainer, V. Collelo, has decided to take Shrewd to Awapuni for the Manawatu Clip. Shrewd is now back to his very best, and the Awapuni race will be more to his liking than the Auckland Cup, where both the distance and class would probably prove too much for him. Shrewd, through a misunderstanding, will not be ridden by his usual pilot, A: W. Macdonald, who has been engaged to ride Paiko. Also for Manawatu. The Hastings, trainer, W. C. Griffiths,' will lake his team, consisting of Head Serang, Royal Parade, White Fang, and Child's Study, to Awapuni. not to Ellerslie. After Manawatu the three last-named will go either to Tauherenikau or Marton, while Head Serang will return to Hastings. Child's Study is a two-year-old half-brother by Psychology to Royal Parade.
