COLONIAL APPOINTMENTS

NEW ZEALAND CANDIDATES

A meeting of the Central Board of Selection, Colonial Appointments, of which His Excellency the GovernorGeneral is chairman, was hold at Government House on Wednesday for the purpose of considering the applications of graduates of the New Zealand University for appointment to the British Crown Colonies and Protectorates which are under tho control of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom. Of nine candidates who presented themselves four were selected by the Central Board for recommendation to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, with whom the final decision rests. Tho scheme has now been in operation for two years. At tho first meeting of tho board, held in December last year, thrco candidates were selected, and were subsequently offered and accepted appointments, their names being: B. 0. Sinclair, of Auckland, as an Administrative Officer in Nigeria. G. G. L. M'Leod, of Auckland, as an Assistant Master (Mathematics) in tho Education Department- of the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States. K. W. B. Cairns, as a Probationer in the Preventive Scrvieo, Government Monopolies Department, Straits Settlements.
