MR. FORBES'S FINAL DAY

SAILING FOR NEW ZEALAND

(Received 6th December, 2 p.m.) LONDON, sth December. Mr. G. W. Forbes, on his final day in England, paid a farewell call on Mr. MaeDonald, placed a wreath on the "Westminster Abbey tablet to the Empire's million dead, and interviewed Sir Ernest Harvey, deputy-governor of, the Bank of England. Mr. Forbes 's final statement paid a tribute to the hospitality shown him throughout Britain and Ireland. Though the Imperial Conference's decisions had not gone as far as he had hoped, he added, some important decisions had been reached, while many of the undecided questions he considcerd would be solved by personal contacts between public and commercial leaders, which so far had been most valuable. New Zealand sold the bulk of her products to Britain, and as a matter of sentiment gave the Motherland preference through the Customs. The Dominion desired the fullest measure of preference. He highly appreciated the goodwill New Zealand and her products enjoyed in Britain.
