LADY SIDEY'S TOUR
SOME IMPRESSIONS
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 3rd October. Lady .Sidey seems to ' be enjoying thoroughly her first visit to London. She found the brief stay at Honolulu very interesting.- The town from the ship at night looked like a fairyland, she t.aid. After tho reception at Dr. Buck's house tho guests were- distributed among residents with cars. Sir Thomas and Lady Sidey were taken to ! a beautiful home removed from the 1 town, belonging to an ex-legislator of 1 the United States. With the aid of I tho_ motor lights they saw tho lovoly ' garden and tho tropical palms, Y the 1 trees with gorgeous blooms like' red rata, and a largo variety of wonderful flowers and plants. The house, too, was an example of the comfort and j luxury that could be obtained even in the tropics. Victoria (British Columbia) reminded Lady Sidey very much of New Zealand. The Hon. Mr. Bruce, Governor of British Columbia, very kindly showed tho party over tho beautiful grounds of Government House, with their fine gardens and hothouse flowers. They spent only four hours in Victoria, but they iaw a great deal in the time. At the luncheon given to the ladies of \tho delegation at Van- j couvcr by the women's branch, of the , Canadian Club the president (Miss I IJoss) spoke, and each of tho New Zca land ladies replied briefly. Lady Sidey told her hosts something about the Plunkct Society and Kindergarten work in New Zealand and tho National Council of Women, in all of which bub jects they seemed to be greatly interested. Lady Sidey was the guest-of Mis. J. IT. Thomas (wife of the Secretary for the Dominions) on Tuesday evening. Admiralty nouse, where tho party dined, Lady Sidey found most intorcsting with its paintings and relics of tho British Navy. "Our hostess, Mrs. Thomas," said Lady Sidcy, "was very pleasant, and I-liked-her very much. Miss Ishbcl Mac Donald as a hostess is very natural, and gives one tho. im pression that sho is holding 'lier position very well just by .being her natural self. She must be a 1 wonderful manager, however." Lady Sidey has conveyed fraternal greetings from tho New Zealand International Council of . Women to the London headquarters. . Next week there is to "be a conference of 700 delegates at Portsmouth, and Lady Sidey hopes to be able to attend some of the meetings. When she has time she will also get into touch with the Federation of University Women at Crosby Hall, and pay a visit to the Mothoreraft Training Society at Cionuvell House, High gate. i
