BURGLARS ACTIVE
HOUSE RANSACKED
Using the kitchen window as a means of entrance, burglars entered the home of Mr. F. C. Haycraft, at 15, North terrace, Kelburn, between 2 p.m. and 3.15 p.m. yesterday and ransacked every room. Their efforts were not well rewarded, as they secured only a small amount of money which was lying about the house. So far as can be ascertained, nothing else was taken. | Mr. Haycraft stated to-day that the thieves had smashed open his children's money-box and had obtained one or two sovereigns and some small change. Contents of the majority of the drawers and cupboards had been pulled out and strewn all over the house., and the doors that had been left locked were burst open. The robbery took place after Mrs. Haycraft had gone out for the afternoon, and was discovered by tho children when they returned home from school. The thieves must have worked very rapidly, for there was no means of escape other than at the front of the house. It is probable that two men were on the job—one keeping watch outside while the other entered the house.
