(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

MOTUEKA, 17th September

The teams were as follow:—

Golden Bay-Motueka.—Stevens, Kverett, Holmwood (captaiu), Kirk, How-ell, Stewart, Wright, Staruea, Park, HoJyoake, Redmond, Askew, and Johnson.

Soon after the kick-off Stevens, the Bay full-back, miskicked to Hill, who finished off a nice piece of play. Neal converted with a" splendid kick. ■

Cameron started a movement iv Wellington's twenty-five, the ball travelling to Killeen, Robins, Chestennau, and Neal, who reversed to Robius to Neal, 'who finished ofi a spectacular movement.

Ottaway was the "next to score, as a reward for following up. Neal's kick hit the crossbar.

Well hooked^the ball went through the hands of each of the Wellington backs, on to the forwards, who went over in a bunch' for a try in the corner.

The Bay forwards occasionally showed form,' but' they were unable to turn any effort ,to advantage. The Wellington backs were very resourceful, starting off movements from their own twenty-five. Ward, always prominent in the line-out, fielded the ball, passing back to Coman, on to Killeen, Robins, Chesterman, and Robins again, who swerved over under the posts. Neal converted. 1 In the second spell Wellington rattled on three tries in quick succession. Then play slowed down, both sides tiring. Holmwood and Stewart were consistently good on defence for the Bay. It was not till the end that the home forwards showed their worth, but the effort did not last.

In the second spell Ncal, Coman (2), and Ward scored tries, but none were converted.

The weather, and the ground conditions were perfect. The visitors were penalised sixteen times against four. ;

Ward, Hill, and Ottaway were the best of the visiting forwards, all this backs playing wel|, Coman and Robins perhaps the best. . .

For the home team Holyoake and Askew were good forwards, Holmwood, Wright. and Stewart defending well. .

Wellington will play Nelson on Saturday.
