PENYBRYN'S CAPTAIN
MOKE CONGRATULATIONS

WESTPOKT, 16th September
On the arrival of the steamer Penybryn from Auckland to-day, the Mayor (Mr. J. H. Harkness), the DeputyMayor (Mr. 3. M. Eobertson), the Town (Jlcrk (Mr. A. Taylor), Captain Wliyborn, of the U.S.S. Company's Koinata, aud Mr. 0. Kahr visited Captain Salvorsen, and conveyed to him tho congratulations and appreciation of the citizens of Westport ou the services he had rendered to the Tahiti on her recent ill-fated trip.
Captain Salvorsen modestly disclaimed any credit for his action, which, he said, was only that which in like circumstances any other captain would have taken, and which he would expect of any other captain should his vessel have been in the unhappy position of the ill-fated Tahiti.
