HEAVY COST OF CONTROL

WASHINGTON, 22nd August,

The Washington Forest Services have revealed that fires due to the drought aro costing the Government IS,OOO dollars a day to control.

In many sections it is reported that the fires aro still raging, and the hazards are many.

Drought, low humidity, and lightning are- reported to be the principal causes of the fire trouble, coupled with the increased use of forests by recreationists endeavouring to escape the heat of the Western Coast States.
