THE KHANDALLAH FIRE
"With reference to tho tire at Khanclallah on Saturday, it is stated that no triined fireman is kept by the Fire Boarc to superintend the efforts of volunteer firemen when fires occur at Khaijdallah or Ngaio. The fireman to whon reference was made in Saturday's "Post" is purely a volunteer who happened to bo at homo when the firo at Mrs. Bolton's house ibroke out. Tho fire; engine, it is stated, is merely a reel drawn liy an old motor, but it. is hopd that the Fire Board will make an up-to-date engine available. So far an amount of £110 has been raised to this end, and an endeavour will be msde tn obtain a larger siini and to injuce the Firo Board to subsidise it.
