The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received its weekly cablegram from London, dated 22nd August, advising the following approximate average prices realised for the week, with movements in. prices on the week shown in parentheses:—Sheep: Canterbury and North Island, selected, crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48-56 sd, 57-64 4%d, 65-72 4 5-8 d; North Island, 48-58 4%d, 57-64 4&d, 65-72 4%d; ewes, 48-04 3%d, 65-72 3d. Lambs. Canterbury, 36-under 8 7-8 d (down l-8d), 37-42 8 7-Bd, 43-50 8 5-8 d (down l-8d); second quality, average 33, 7 3-Sd (down l-8d); other South Island brands, 36-under S%d, 37-42 B%d, 43-50 8 2/2 d; selected North Island brands, including Downs, 36-under 8 7-8 d (down l-8d), 37-42 8 7-Bd. 43-50, 8 5-8 d (down l-8d); second quality, average 31, 7%d (down l-8d); other North Island brands, first quality, 36-under 8 l-Bd, 37-42 8 3-8 d; do., second. quality, average 31, 7 lJ3d (down l-8d). New Zealand prime porker pigs, 60-100, 8d (up %d); 101-120, 7%d (up Vid). New Zealand prime baconer pigs: 321-180, 7d. New Zealand frozen veal: Not quoted. Lamb market: Tendency of market is easier. Demand has* fallen off slightly owing to holiday season. Mutton: Wethers, market remains steady and unchanged; ewes, market is quiet. Beef: Market is quiet and steady. New Zealand porker pigs: Prices are firmer on short supplies. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged.
