DEATH OF A BOXER
COLLAPSES DURING BOUT (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. During the boxing championships last evening, P. Rush, of Blenheim, competing in the heavyweight class, collapsed during an interval in a bout with R. Nicol, of Southland, and was carried from the ring unconscious. He was admitted to hospital, and underwent an operation, but succumbed to-day. The bout was not strenuous, and Rush did not appear to receive a blow to cause any serious injury to the head which would account for his collapse.
