PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS The following' promotions and transfers .in the Police Force, in consequence of the appointment of Mr. W. G. Wohlmann to the position of Commissioner of Police, were announced this afternoon. Inspector J. K. Simpson, of Palmerston North, promoted to the rank of superintendent, and remains at Palmerston North. , Inspector S. Till, of Wangaiuii, promoted to the rank of superintendent, and transferred to Auckland to fill the position vacated by Mr. Wohlmann. Inspector J. M'llveney transferred from Auckland to charge of Wanganui District to replace Inspector Till. Mr. Simpson is the senior inspector, with an excellent record and well qualified for promotion, but in veiw of the fact that he is not in robust health and is due to retire within the next two years on reaching the age limit, it has been decided to promote him to the rank of superintendent, and permit him to remain at Palmorston North, and to fill tho vacancy for a superintendent at Auckland by the promotion of Inspector Till, who is the next senior inspector.
