PASSENGERS AND MAILS
MAKURA DUE MONDAY
The Boyal Mail steamer Makura, en route from San Francisco, via Papeete and Karotonga, lias reported by wireless that slie expects to arrive in the stream at 7 o'clock oa Monday morning. She will berth about an hour later at No. 1 south Queen's Wharf to discharge the local portion of her passengers, mails, and cargo, and is to sail at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in continuation of her voyage to Sydney. - The Makura's mail comprises 671 bags of English and American mails, and 103 American parcel receptacles. She has 140 passengers on board. Other ships bringing overseas mails and passengers to New Zealand next ■week are the Maunganui, which is duo at Wellington on Tuesday morning from Sydney with 1196 bags of Australian mail, and 530 parcel receptacles, and the lonic, which is duo at Auckland on Tuesday with G92 bags of mail and 90 parcel receptacles. The Gataiella, which left Sydney at 4 p.m. yesterday for Wellington, brings five bags of mail and 24 parcel receptacles. She is Sue at Wellington on Thursday.
