TOC H INDUSTRIAL VISITS
On Thursday afternoon the schools' section of Toe H held the second of a series of industrial visits. The bus left Courtenay place about 1.30 with 45 secondary scholars and others, -with Mr. A. B. Malyon in charge, for General Motors' Factory at Petone. The party saw the line where the framework of the bodies is assembled, and the corner where they receive their three preparatory coats of paint. The upholstery and fittings were applied, and then the bodies received their final coats of paint. The main assembly line where the body was fixed to the chassis and: the final adjustments were made proved very, interesting. In summer, the rush season, cars are driven off the end of this line one every 15 minutes. The glass cutting shed was perhaps the part in which most interest was shown. The party was then shown a film depicting the progress of civilisation, as shown by road traffic, and also brief glimpses of General Motors' factories in several of the 110 countries in which the company operates. ■-. .
\ Messrs. Forman and Whelan, and the guides were thanked, and cheers were given for General Motors. Mr. Forman replied on behalf of the staff.
