FUNERAL OBSEQUIES
-4, LATE SIR GEORGE HUNTER (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, 22nd August. The funeral of Sir George Hunter left St. Mary's Anglican Church to-day following a public service conducted by Canon E. D. Rice. The congregation was too large to bo accommodated in the church,' so the coffin was placed outside. The vicar eulogised Sir George Hunter 's life.' He had been generous to a degree, particularly to returned soldiers. Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P., represented the Reform Party and the Hon. A. J. Murdoch the Government. Jockey Club stewards acted as pall-bearers. Business premises closed during the service and flags were at half-mast. At the conclusion of the service the body was taken to Sir George Hunter'a station for private interment, a large number of cars following the funeral to the borough boundary. A special car carried a great number of beautiful wreaths from all parts of the Dominion.
