THREE DISAPPOINTED MEN

AUCKLAND, 13th August.
Three ineE who are alleged to hay« attempted to get out of New Zealand without paying their fares are back where they started. They arrived at Auckland by the steamer Canadian Cruiser last night, and w^re interviewed by the police when she berthed at the Prince's Wharf.
One of them was a middle-aged mam who was born in England, but had spent most of his life in New Zealand. Ha stowed away on board the Canadian Explorer when she was completing her cargo at this port on Bth April. He waj discovered whou the ship was a couple of days out from port and was put to work on board. This man was taken to Montreal, but was not allowed to g» free, being detained until the Canadian National Steamships' next sailing'f of New Zealand. . ...
Of the other two men, one is an Au»« tralian and the other a New Zealand* er. Both are young men. They con* cealed themselves on board the Canadian Conqueror, which left Auckland on 3rd June. On the ship's arrival at the Panama Canal Zone they were put ashore and held until the arrival of th» next New Zealand-bound'steamer.
During the Canadian Cruiser's voyage to Auckland the three men worked as hard as anyone on the ship. The middle-aged man had the place of on« of the cooks, who was landed sick at Balboa, . ■■
